About HardHatCity

HardHatCity is the web's premier construction community, a professional networking site offering free, customized profiles to members of the modern construction industry: consumers, contractors and tradespeople, professional service providers, suppliers, and employers.

Our founding members are career contractors who understand what does and doesn't work in the construction industry, and they created HardHatCity to fix what doesn't work. For industry professionals, it's the fact that traditional methods of obtaining new projects and clients are fundamentally unreliable, like paid online services that yield dead-end leads. And for industry consumers, it's knowing how or where to find a dependable industry professional, when consumer-based review sites just don't offer a full picture of a professional's background, skills, or reputation.

With HardHatCity's dynamic networking tools—ranging from searchable profiles, projects, and job listings to expansive forums and blogs—members of these user groups can now easily develop a distinctive industry presence, connect with consumers and professionals alike, and thrive in the construction marketplace. We created these integrative solutions to improve how people in the industry communicate with each other, offering limitless resources to build the relationships so essential to productivity, finding work, and getting work done.

HISTORY

In owning and operating a general contracting business for eight years, it became clear to Scott Trenery that all members of the construction industry would benefit if they had an effective way to find and connect with each other. Scott brainstormed with his business partners, Jamil Weatherbee and Danielle Humbard, and the team came up with the idea of an online network that wholly supports all industry members. They soon launched a simplified version of their idea, BigHardHat.com, and the site's remarkable growth spurred development of the full-featured product, HardHatCity.com, launched in private beta on May 4, 2010.
