Contractor Verification

When you see the Verified badge on a contractor's profile, you can instantly feel secure knowing that he or she is operating legally and legitimately according to state requirements.  Each state has its own set of rules, and HardHatCity holds their Verified contractors to these rules accordingly.  After we obtain a contractor's documentation of his or her license, bond, insurance, and in some cases state registration, we check with the appropriate offices to confirm that they are valid and current.

But we don't just check once—we rigorously monitor the status and expiration dates throughout the one year of Verification service, and we request updated documents from contractors as needed.  If we don't receive updated documents, we'll remove a contractor's Verified badge and Verification report.

Individual Certification

Our one-of-a-kind Certification service encompasses both a criminal background check and a notarized photo identity confirmation.  We've partnered with an outstanding third-party service that scours a professional's background for records of criminal convictions, felonies, misdemeanors, sex offenses, and other criminal activity. Secondly, we confirm photo identity by creating a form with that person's headshot photo and full name.  He or she then brings this form to a local notary, whose stamp and signature confirms that this is indeed the same person pictured on the form.  We post a scanned copy of this notarized form on the Certified professional's profile—so you can see for yourself that the person you hired is the same person knocking on your front door.

Only a person who passes BOTH our criminal background check and notarized photo identity confirmation will be HardHatCity Certified.  So have peace of mind when hiring or inviting Certified professionals into your home: their backgrounds are clear, and they are who they say they are.
